Outdoor Challenge: Resource Room
The kids of the Resource Room have been busy exploring in the park. They began their adventure hunting through the woods looking for sticks to build forts, which very quickly turned into a hunt for berries.
And of course we had to give Ms. Cari a proper send off the best way we know how.
Silly face selfies!
Today the children tried their hand at some photography at the duck pond. If you ask me I think we have a few budding photographers on our hands.
Outdoor Challenge Day 3: National Hot Dog Day
As luck would have it, today just so happened to be National Hot Dog Day, so our timing for our Outdoor Challenge bonfire couldn't have been timed better. You might have thought to yourself, but the weather was cold, and let me tell you as someone who stood over a bonfire in +45 degrees last year, today was perfect.
You'll have to ask your children if they enjoyed the hot dogs because they ate them so fast we were only able to get one quick picture, however we gave them all a chance to roast their own marshmallows so we got them standing still long enough to capture those smiling faces.
YUM!

Outdoor Challenge Day 2: Brody's Berry Hunt
Yesterday during the nature walk with Barret, one of our children Brody seemed to take a particular interest in the different berries that could be found around the park. In fact he spent the remainder of the afternoon hunting through the forest with a bucket picking all the berries he could find.
The other children seemed to take notice because by this morning Brody had formed a berry search party and by the afternoon most of the children could be found wandering through the grassy areas with buckets of berries.
*Please note that the children have been given strict instructions to not eat any of the berries that they find.*
"These are snow berries" >
We will keep you posted with the progress of this project. I feel like there is still a lot of great exploring to come.

Outdoor Challenge Day 1
Today we had a special visitor at the park, Barret from Fort Whyte. He took us on a nature walk around the park and taught us about the different ecosystems and creatures that live there. He pointed out different insects along the walk as well as different plants, ones that are helpful and ones that are harmful such as poison ivy.
The children were given a hula hoop to throw and see how many different ecosystems they could find just within the circle.
The children came back from their walk buzzing about all of the things that they saw and all of the new things they learned about the park.

Deer Meadow Farms
Today we headed out to Deer Meadow Farms in Springfield, Manitoba. While the weather wasn't the most cooperative, we still had a great time playing and learning about the farm and the animals.
We rode the train and met a few deer
And played in the hay
We met a few new friends
At the end of the day, we made butter and got to take home a little token from the farm
