Kindergarten Special Visitor

It seems that every year when October 1st hits that the children stop whatever they are doing and start to talk about Halloween. One of our children in particular has been focused on police so we arranged for a police officer to come and educate the children on the role that police officers play in our community.

After the presentation, the children had an opportunity to see the police car and even take turns sitting in the back seat.

You better believe that we were prepared for our Halloween interest and had all kinds of costumes ready to go into our dress up area and the children were thrilled to see the police costumes.

Not quite sure if our conversations will turn to community helpers or stay with Halloween but we're excited to see where this interest take us. Stay tuned!

First week of nursery school!

We finally had the first nursery program running at Bonnycastle location this week.

On the first week, our little nursery children were so excited to explore the new environment, toys and were busy doing lots of fun activities.

Painting paper plates was a good start to the week because it allowed us to get to know what the children were interested in. They created rainbows, ghosts, shapes and learned some colors.

Sensory play with cornstarch was a hit! It allows the children to explore using their senses and is a tool that can be used to help children regulate or calm their minds and bodies.

Loose parts are natural objects or materials which provide children endless opportunities to build their play. The children enjoyed exploring and creating with loose parts.

After three days, we also observed that children were interested in rainbows. They talked about and painted rainbows as well as made pictures of rainbows. So we decided to do this Smarties Rainbow Science experiment with the children. They definitely loved it.

Friday playdough and sticker pictures fun!!!

It was a great week learning with our new group and we have so many ideas to keep exploring.
Stay tuned!
