Our morning kinder group had shown a real interest in the puddles when playing outside. As we watched and listened it seemed as though they were pretending that it was soup. So in true emergent fashion, we decided that if they wanted soup, we would make soup.
We planned a field trip to Safeway to pick our vegetables and other items that we would need to make our soup. We made our list an set out on our way.
On our walk, we experienced some of the weirdest weather you could imagine. The sun was shining and warm, there were puddles on the road, the leaves were falling from the trees and the ground was covered in snow...and boy did we have fun with that!
When we arrived at Safeway, it was straight to the produce section to look for the veggies that we needed. We gave the children a list of items and watched as they searched to find our ingredients.

Next it was off to the grocery ailses to find the rest of our ingredients and pay for our items. We talked about the cost of each items and how much it was for everything.
This morning it was time to make our soup! We cut our vegetables and put everything in the slow cooker to be ready for our afternoon snack. Can't wait to try it!
